National Day of Remembrance and Action to End Violence Against Women
December 6, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us as we commemorate the 14 women murdered at l’Ecole Polytechnique in 1989, as well as the local women, and honour all women who live and have died as a result of gender based and racialized violence.
Candlelight vigil and music by The Caledonias.
We must not forget that even this year women were particularly targeted in a gender based crime when an individual ran a van onto the sidewalks in Toronto aiming to hit and kill women.
We must not forget that this year our current government has decided to disband the Provincial Roundtable on Violence Against Women.
We must not forget that a women dies every 6 days in Canada as a result of domestic violence.
We must not forget the over 1000 documented cases of missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
We must not forget that on November 20th we remember trans individuals who have lost their lives due to transphobia and how they are at a higher risk of experiencing gender based violence.
We must not forget the sex workers who experience job related violence daily.
We must not forget how ALL survivors have had to listen to the media tell them over and over and over that they don’t matter. That it matters more to have a perpetrator in the Supreme Court.
Join us and take action.
