Holistic Healing Workshop – June 20 2014

Kingston’s National Aboriginal Day
Festival Committee Presents:
This workshop invites both Indigenous and non-Indigenous
helpers to look deeply into their practice in order to build on what they
already know and open themselves up to new knowledge in the area of anti-violence work. Although the workshop is geared towards working
with Indigenous women, it will offer approaches to helping that are
applicable to all people. It offers ideas and tools to add to one’s basket of
helping and healing methods such as: Broadening one’s perspective to
see women in a holistic and inclusive way Including families, communities
and natural helpers in one’s work, Understanding how the impacts of
colonization are connected to today’s realities for Indigenous women,
Becoming a reflective and reflexive practitioner, Exploring ways to
decolonize one’s practice through “cultural safety”. The workshop will
include both a presentation by the facilitator and interactive exercises for
participants to integrate their learning.
