Women’s Empowerment Series ~ For Women Survivors of Sexual Assault or Abuse

February 13TH, 1PM-3PM: PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES
Whether it is physical/sexual, abuse violates and intrudes on an individual’s per-sonal space. Abuse survivors may find themselves confused about what consti-tutes safe and appropriate space for them personally and within their peer groups. *No cost, registration required
February 20TH, 1PM-3PM: INTIMACY & TRUST
Survivors of abuse often mistake sex for intimacy and closeness. The confusion between sexual and emotional closeness leads some survivors to engage in sex when what they really want is intimacy. Women need to begin to clarify the difference between sex and intimacy if they are to avoid being revictimized in fu-ture relationships. *No cost, registration required
FEBRUARY 27TH, 1PM-3PM: DEVELOPING WAYS TO FEEL BETTER
Survivors of trauma are often all too aware of the necessary but less-than-ideal ways in which they have comforted themselves in the past: drugs & alcohol, fan-tasy, dissociation, overeating, self-cutting and compulsive activity. They are less aware of benign ways to self-comfort. This session begins to introduce less dam-aging ways in which women might feel comforted and soothed. *No cost, registration required
