Kingston Police 175th Anniversary Celebration at Kingston City Hall
December 20, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The year of celebrations to mark the 175th anniversary of the proclamation by Kingston Town Council of “An Act to Establish a Police Force in the Town of Kingston” is wrapping up with a final ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Memorial Hall in Kingston’s historic City Hall located at 216 Ontario Street.
At our official anniversary celebration we will be announcing the completion of several projects undertaken over this past year and unveiling many items, as well as summarizing the special events held in 2016.
At the conclusion of this celebration, everyone will be invited to enjoy some coffee and cake and then make their way downstairs to the area within City Hall that initially housed the police force in 1844 and continued to be used for detention cells until 1906. Thanks to the excellent work by many members of City staff, this area has been renovated and converted to a gallery providing information on law enforcement in Kingston in the 1800s and 1900s and displaying artifacts from the early history of the Kingston Police.
Should you have any questions in this respect, please call the Office of the Chief of Police at 613-549-4660, extension 2213, or the Chair of the 175th Anniversary Committee at extension 6150.
We hope that you can join us.
Gilles M. Larochelle
