Napanee Area Community Health Centre Opens its Doors to the Community
November 18, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Kingston Community Health Centres is pleased to invite the community to the grand opening of its new Napanee Area Community Health Centre (NACHC) site. Join us at 26 Dundas Street West in Napanee on Friday, November 18 from 2 to 4 pm for speeches, a ribbon cutting, tours and refreshments.
The new NACHC site represents an exciting enhancement to our organization’s programs and services and we thank the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Health Capital Investment Branch for providing essential funds for this capital build. First announced in 2005, NACHC served local residents from a temporary site at 6 Dundas Street East beginning in 2009. In 2011, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provided $6 million for a new building.
“This is an exciting time for Kingston Community Health Centres and Napanee and area residents,” said Hersh Sehdev, Executive Director. “The community has waited patiently for more than ten years, giving enormous time and energy to make this happen. The new centre provides a much larger, purpose-built space that will benefit even more community members. I am delighted to see the doors now open with services up and running.”
The design of NACHC’s new permanent home was developed with community input and includes a healing lodge: a dedicated sacred space for the Indigenous Health Program. The new health centre also houses community mental health services from Providence Care which partnered with Kingston Community Health Centres for the build, contributing to the cost.
A part of Kingston Community Health Centres, NACHC offers a variety of programs and services to residents of Napanee and area and has a small site in Deseronto. NACHC offers primary health care, counselling, youth programming, diabetes education, advanced footcare, sexual health clinics, harm reduction supplies and more.
Kingston Community Health Centres is a multi-service, multi-site accredited organization. Based in Kingston and Napanee, our many programs and services support all aspects of health through all stages of life. Our Mission: To Care. To Respond. To Build Community.
